- Mrs. Anne Picket began operating Wisconsin’s first cheese factory in 1841 on the family farm near Lake Mills using milk from her neighbors' cows to produce butter and cheese. This continued until 1845, when the level of production and demand grew too large for her kitchen. By 1869, Wisconsin produced over 3 million pounds of cheese, and that number would more than quadruple within 10 years.The nation’s first dairy school was created at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1890, where it remains the country’s top Dairy Science Department.Several popular cheese varieties were invented in Wisconsin. Stage 10 Race Report
What a way to finish off the 10 days of racing. Today's race would be day 2 of national PRT points and right from the start it was ISCorp-Smart Choice MRI vs United Health Care. UHC packed the fire power and big names, ISCorp had fresh legs and was looking to close on the points lead. The race started with a solo breakaway from Skylar Schneider, after she got pulled in Sam counter attacked. A few more ISCorp counters would prove unsuccessful but would keep a good pace on the race. In the end many riders tried getting away but UHC would pull them back. With 1 lap to go there would be a massive crash towards the front of the field and it would be neutralized with 4 laps added in. After a brief break the race was reset with 5 to go, the pace grew even faster and everyone lined up to launch attached. Lauren Tamayo & team would take the win, 2nd would go to Skylar Schneider and 3rd to Kendelle Hodges. Peta Mullens would hold her minimum lead despite crashing and getting back in with 1 to go. There were several massive primes including a $1200 prime from the Velofemmes - Coryn Rivera would take the prime.
Similar to the women, many of the men also tried getting off the front of the field, and again United Health Care was looking strong and in control. Astellas & Subaru would try to break it up but in the end the Blue Train, John Murphy and Tyler Magner, would set up and roll out for a 1-2 punch in the top 2 spots, Daniel Holloway would sprint to 3rd. Astellas' Brandon Feehery would hold his overall omnium spot.
